What inspired you to become a Will Writer and work in estate planning?
I’ve always had a deep respect for the importance of planning for the future. My role allows me to help people feel secure about what will happen when they’re no longer around, and that’s a very meaningful thing. I’ve been drawn to this field because I find it rewarding to guide people through important decisions that can have a lasting impact on their families.
What is one piece of advice you always give to clients when it comes to estate planning?
I always encourage clients to plan early. It’s so much easier to put a solid plan in place when you’re in good health and able to make clear decisions. It’s also crucial to keep your plans up to date. Life changes, and so should your planning. An up-to-date Will or Power of Attorney can make all the difference in ensuring your wishes are honoured.
How do you approach sensitive conversations with clients, especially when they might find it difficult to talk about their future?
I always approach these conversations with empathy and understanding. I know that talking about Wills, Trusts, or Powers of Attorney can feel uncomfortable for many people, so I take my time to explain things clearly and answer any questions. I try to make the process as open as possible, offering reassurance and making sure clients feel in control of the decisions they’re making. My goal is to create a safe space where you can discuss your wishes without feeling rushed or judged.
When you’re not helping clients, how do you like to spend your free time?
I’m an avid reader, always looking for a good book to dive into. I love going to the theatre and am proud to be a part of Thame Players, our local theatre group. I also love a trip to the seaside on a sunny day!
